Floris about this item:

“There's a famous drawing where, depending on how you look at it, you either see an old witch with a prominent chin or a beautiful young woman. It's called an ambiguous optical illusion. This shoe works pretty much the same way. Look at it one way and it's an old-fashioned, rather boring brown shoe. Look again and it's an ultra-hip neo-classic. As far as we're concerned, it's definitely the latter. Twenty years ago, it would've been unthinkable for this type of brown shoe to ever be cool again. And yet, here we are. As much as I love sneakers, for shoemakers, brown shoes are the real OGs. ("Original Gangsters"! I'm trying not only to design cool shoes, but to stay cool myself.) So, sneakers... move over. The brown shoe is back. Slip them on and become part of this wonderful shoemaker's optical illusion yourself.”
