With a history dating back to 1734, Schoenfabriek Wed. J.P Van Bommel B.V. is one of the oldest shoe factories in Western Europe.
“"In 1734, my great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather started out as a shoemaker."”
For nine Van Bommel generations now, fathers have passed on their knowledge of the shoe craft to their sons. The same goes for the many talented professionals who work at Van Bommel. For centuries, they have shared their experience and knowledge with the next generation. Even today, they make sure that every Van Bommel shoe is truly unique.
During the manufacturing process, a Van Bommel shoe goes through an average of 280 specialised work steps, within an estimated production time of eight weeks. High-quality materials such as a leather insole, calfskin lining, full-grain calfskin uppers, pitch threads and tanned sole leather ensure quality. The Van Bommel collections contain shoes that are made according to the Moccasin, GoodYear, Blake, Sachetto and Ago methods.
The Van Bommel shoe factory still produces much of its collection in the Netherlands. At its own factory in Moergestel, the Netherlands, 140 employees specialise in the GoodYear production method.
