"I will always have a soft spot for the ordinary, simple, old fashioned boating shoe. I try to cram them into the collection every summer. Our sales people usually shake their heads when I do, because it's not a fashionable item. WHO CARES? I've tried again this summer, and I've succeeded. We have put a lot of extra time into it. The classic Van Bommel boating shoes always have a little copper plate with the Van Bommel logo on the side. We have had this recreated in bright blue rubber with the Floris van Bommel logo. We have also spent quite some time studying the materials. It flirts with the classic colour combinations for boating shoes, but in slightly different materials clearly marking it as new. When the prototype was on the table we thought it was a little boring. A piece of waxed, mustard coloured suede turned out to be the proverbial icing on the cake. You won't find a better summer shoe anywhere!"
