What is my size?

For men’s shoes, Floris van Bommel uses the English (UK) shoe size system in whole and half sizes (5 to 13½). This allows for a very accurate fitting range. The two tables below show how the UK sizes relate to EU sizes and centimetres. In the video, we show you how to measure your feet correctly.

Product details

This is De Spekker, a casual lace shoe in taupe with a sturdy rubber sole. The upper is crafted from oiled suede sourced from a specialised Italian tannery in Santa Croce sull’Arno. The shoe is finished with brown leather piping that runs from derby to derby along the entire instep. At the heel, a small brown label made of vegetable-tanned calf leather is applied, featuring the Floris van Bommel logo in the shape of the letter “F”. The calf leather lining is finished with a stitched-on textile label featuring the vintage “Gluing & Suing design”. The footbed, which runs from heel to toe, is removable and can be replaced with custom insoles or orthoticss if desired.

"There's a famous drawing where, depending on how you look at it, you either see an old witch with a prominent chin or a beautiful young woman. It's called an ambiguous optical illusion. This shoe works pretty much the same way. Look at it one way and it's an old-fashioned, rather boring brown shoe. Look again and it's an ultra-hip neo-classic. As far as we're concerned, it's definitely the latter. Twenty years ago, it would've been unthinkable for this type of brown shoe to ever be cool again. And yet, here we are. As much as I love sneakers, for shoemakers, brown shoes are the real OGs. ("Original Gangsters"! I'm trying not only to design cool shoes, but to stay cool myself.) So, sneakers... move over. The brown shoe is back. Slip them on and become part of this wonderful shoemaker's optical illusion yourself."
