The finest leathers and the ultimate polish

Since 1718, we have been producing our smart men's shoes in our own shoe factory in Moergestel. Smart lace-up shoes are often made from calf leather or calf suede. These types of leather can be distinguished from less luxurious leathers by their rich, deep texture. Once the shoes have been made, our calf leather shoes are always polished by hand. The toe and heel are often given an additional finish, while the entire shoe is polished to create extra shine and an exceptionally luxurious appearance.

Floris van Bommel offers countless variations of luxury men's shoes. Choose from luxury men's shoes in cognac or brown, or smart black men's shoes. Some people prefer a leather sole, while a rubber sole is also a popular choice for additional grip. Do you appreciate a little extra detailing? You can determine the right size for your Floris van Bommel smart shoes using our size chart and size advice video. Our men's shoes generally fit true to size and use UK shoe sizes in whole and half sizes, ranging from 5 to 13.5, for a precise fit. If you consistently wear the same size in leather shoes from other brands, choose the same size. If you're between two sizes or have wider feet, choose a wider fit for additional comfort.

Which Floris van Bommel smart shoes are suitable for orthotic insoles?

Most smart shoes do not have a removable footbed and are therefore not suitable for orthotic insoles. However, some lace-up shoes do feature a removable footbed and therefore provide space for your own orthotic insoles. How do you care for suede and leather smart shoes?

Before wearing your smart shoes, it is best to treat them with a water- and dirt-repellent spray such as Carbon Pro by Collonil. This spray is suitable for both leather and suede shoes. Applying it regularly helps prevent dirt and moisture from penetrating the material. Smooth leather shoes are best maintained regularly with a shoe cream in a colour that closely matches the leather. This helps maintain the right moisture balance and allows you to enjoy your shoes for longer.

How are Floris van Bommel smart shoes made?

Most Floris van Bommel lace-up shoes are produced using either the Blake or Goodyear construction method. In both methods, the upper leather is pulled over the last. With Blake construction, it is secured with adhesive underneath the insole. With Goodyear construction, horizontal stitching attaches the upper leather to the welt and the rib.
